[Alyssa + Mitch]
Alyssa and Mitchell met the summer before their last year of college. Alyssa was in class with Mitchell's sister Brooke. Brooke mentioned to Alyssa that she should date her brother. During that summer the three of them attended a wedding together where Alyssa met Mitchell for the first time. Two days later they went on their first date.
How did you decide on your venue?
First off, The Atrium was the perfect location. We had fallen in love with the Eastside/Shorewood area due to being students at UW-Milwaukee. From the outside you can see the rooftop garden lit up and how gorgeous it is. Our wedding was in December, but that didn't stop us from utilizing the amazing garden rooftop space for pictures and conversations. Once we stepped inside The Atrium the urban chic decor made the venue stand out from the rest. It was simply an easy choice to book The Atrium due to its style, awesome owners/employees, and the fact that Sound By Design and The Atrium are partner companies!
Favorite song from the dancing portion?
We would have to choose our first dance song L.O.V.E. by Nat King Cole. It is such a classic song that will always represent the love we shared with all our closest friends and family our wedding day.
Biggest challenge when planning your wedding?
The biggest challenge we experienced was the time frame we had to actually plan the wedding. Since we choose to have a 3.5 month engagement, it was a challenge to book and plan all the details of a dream wedding. With the help of MANY MANY friends and family we were able to plan a wedding that was beyond our dreams. It is amazing all the people that will help bring the perfect day together. I am so thankful that we can rewatch our wedding day forever through the videos Sound By Design created for us!
Do you have any wedding planning advice for other couples?
My biggest advice is to hire a wedding planner. We started out not having a wedding planner and were very stressed, but we were blessed when Events to a T took on the role to plan our wedding within 3 short months! The planning leading up to the wedding and during the big day helped let everyone enjoy every moment and not stress at all. Everything went without a hitch.
Favorite wedding day memory?
I have many favorite memories of our wedding day: walking down the aisle, seeing Mitchell there waiting for me, and being pronounced husband and wife are my favorites. One that stood out to me was when I was waiting with my father and the two flower girls and ring bearer prior to walking down the aisle. I was not nervous at all, instead I was reminiscing on all the memories I had with these little children being their nanny, babysitter, and cousin and being grateful for a father that raised me into the woman I am today, modeling to me the Christ centered relationship my parents have. In that moment I was filled with gratitude for all the people that arrived to celebrate our marriage and support us on this next journey of our life together.
